So, you've begged, borrowed, stolen, raided and waited, and at last, you have gotten the Lava Hound, the newest unit in Clash of Clans. You're all excited! A sky golem! An on fire, flying ball of rocky doom. You're excited, and yet, when you've finally deployed the beast into battle, he gets cut down almost immediately. What gives?

GNG favorite Galadon is here to explain why: it's supposed to be that way. One of the core complaints is that the Golem, the land-based version of the Lava Hound, has a longer endurance than his airborne brethren. And while battle after battle does confirm this fact, it fails to take into account one small observation: the Lava Hound is getting absolutely walloped.
Golems, being landborne, can only focus so many defensive towers onto it. The nature of the game and the way most villages at high level are constructed means that when a Golem attacks, he is only attacking a particular section of wall. He distracts while the Wizards come in and do all the heavy lifting. Three, maybe four towers depending on the section will be striking him.
WWE Supercard Update Announced; Brock Lesnar Arriving On Mobile
In the video, posted below, the Lava Hound will draw the fire of almost anything that can attack air units: Inferno Towers, Archer Towers, Wizard Towers, Xbows, Air Defense and the like. The video shows a single Lava Hound pushing through to where the Town Hall is, with 8 towers all knocking it around. You and I couldn't last under such pressure, either. The point of the Lava Hound is to die; it will draw fire, then explode into little Lava Pups, thereby allowing your other forces, your Balloons, your Minions and Dragons to waltz in and begin the attack without too much harassment.
The Lava Hound works fine, you just have to adjust your style is all. LHs are damage soakers, but that doesn't make them Sky Golems. You can't tame this dog.
