Digimon All-Star Rumble News: Party Game Introduces Digicards, A New Battle Mechanic That Helps Take Your Digimon To Victory

Digicards Are Changing Up How Combat Works In Digimon All-Star Rumble

The Tokyo Game Show has officially kicked off, and new details about all sorts of games are coming out of the woodwork. Bandai Namco announced new details today about the upcoming game Digimon All-Star Rumble, specifically about a new battle mechanic called Digicards.

Resident Evil Remake HD Achievement List Revealed

Digicards are items that can be used mid-battle that can help a player get an upper hand in combat. Cards can hold both offensive and defensive powers and can activate at the end of a fighter's combo to keep the onslaught coming.

There will be 200 Digicards to collect in the game, according to Bandai Namco. Players can select two of them to take with them into each battle.

In Digimon All-Star Rumble, players can take part in an arena-style free-for-all as Digimon from several different generations fight for the right to Digivolve. Players need to balance taking the offensive against their opponents with a fair bit of finding a quiet place to charge up energy for evolution. Four players can play at a time with a selection of 12 Digimon, each with additional forms.

Original series purists need not worry; the game looks to incorporate characters from several different seasons of the show. The game's stages also take cues from the original run of the show with such levels as Toy Town, Native Forest, and Coela Beach. The only thing left to wonder is whether introducing playing cards to a Digimon game will make poor grandmothers even more confused about the difference between Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh.

Digimon All-Star Rumble is set to hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 systems November 11 for $39.99.
