In one of those 'why didn't they think of this sooner?' kind of ideas, developer Wargaming announced the inclusion of a new, limited-time only racing mode for its wartime sim World of Tanks.

The new Tank Rally mode will basically combine two of everyone's favorite flavors: intense World War II armor battles and Mario Kart. The mode will pit three teams of three in an updated version of the Port map. Teams will have to race to the finish line while not only destroying obstacles in their way, but the other team as well.
The track will be filled with ramps, explosives and other interactive objects, and will provide ample opportunity to tip the odds of victory with every shot fired. The only tank available in the new mode will be the custom built M24 Chaffee Sport tank that will be given to all registered players for free. Although, allowing players to use different models of vehicle would be awesome. Sure, the Light Tanks can get you there quicker, but a few shots from the Heavy Tanks and all your speed counts for nothing. A real tortoise and the hare equation.

Tank Rally will be available for only a short span of time, from September 29 through October 12. The mode will also feature a whole new set of combat missions for teams to undertake, as well as the "Racer 2014" medal, awarded to the winning trio.
