How have you been enjoying the latest Clash of Clans update? I am still about a month away from enjoying the bulk of it, but I can say that I appreciate being able to dismiss units from my Army Camp. Supercell introduced a new Dark Barracks unit, the Lava Hound and with any new unit, there's a dramatic restructuring of strategy that comes with it. Let's look at one today.

The Lava Hound's main purpose is to suck damage from Air Defense and other towers, thereby giving your other air units, such as Dragons or Balloons, an easier path towards the town hall and, presumably, victory. My personal favorite Youtuber Galadon of Clash Of Clans Attacks, and he's here to stumble to victory by way of what people are calling a Lava Balloonian (a combo featuring Balloons, Minions and now, Lava Hounds). And if you can, throw in some dragons.
The two games Galadon plays, one of which is his first ever Lava Hound attack (he's more of a ground troops guy) are notable in several ways. First, the Lava Hounds can soak up an enormous amount of damage. But they can't soak up more than one tower. They might survive an initial bombardment, but they won't make it much past that.

Second, the attack can be highly effective. Observe the sides of the village he attacks from; they are wiped out within seconds. Just be sure to pick your battles, Inferno Towers with multi-strike capabilities can spell bad news. It's okay to back away from a clash if you feel like your skill and/or forces are not up to it.
Third, the air force is only going to get you so far. Thankfully, since one side of the map has been cleared, you can deploy the King and Queen to play sweep. They can push you just over the edge into two-star victory territory.
