The super indie developers Loren Lemcke and Mastertronic have issued a new public safety message, warning Steam Early Access players of the potential chaos that can happen when you get Over 9000 Zombies! all in one place.

The results are clearly not good. Plastic cups and empty beer cans everywhere. The developers have added new content to their hit Steam game, including a new skill system, better defenses, a new way to track your kills (by both DPS and KPS, Kills Per Second).
The game is a combination top-down shooter, part Smash TV and part tower defense game, and improvements have been made to the latter part, as well. The release, done in the style of a public service announcement, proclaims the following: "Build new turrets and create barricades to keep zombies from wreaking havoc but keep exits clear. A more focused and concentrated survival map means the ghastly ghouls spawn outside the bounds of the compound.

Additionally, you may now call for reinforcements with cooperative multiplayer that allows friends to join your murderous top-down shooter missions against the multitudes of zombies.
Four new abilities have been added for further customization:
"-Durability increases your maximum hit points and regenerates a small amount of health points.
-Carnage will increase the amount of damage you can cause but will lower your reload time.
-Resourcefulness to increase your ability to salvage scrap metal, the hit points recovered from health packs and the number of grenades collected.
-Engineering will upgrade your turrets and defenses, allowing you to better survive the endless wave of zombies.
Stuart Morton, producer from Mastertronic, commented on the reason for the update: "Since the launch of Over 9000 Zombies! on Steam Early Access we have seen plenty of feedback, which has been great and has led us to re-evaluate the map and design something a little more focused on the game's strengths. Combined with the new skills system, this means killing the hordes is now even more fun!"
The game utilizes a unique algorithm which maximizes the amount of characters on the screen, so you are never left with a lull in the action. Thankfully, you're also never left with an empty gun, either. I am curious to see if Mastertronic keeps tabs on the total amount of zombies that have been killed. I am sure it is well over 9000.
