The long-awaited "crooked juries" MMO ArcheAge from developer Jake Song (he behind Lineage and Lineage 2) has hit a snag just before the official launch, which is tomorrow. DDoS attacks have been severely debilitating players' experiences - paying players, mind you.
Our Own ArcheAge Beta Preview Experiences Were Pretty Good!
While ArcheAge is a free-to-play MMO (with in-game purchases), there's also Founder's Packs which grant players stat bonuses, a glider and other in-game benefits for a one-time fee of $50 to $150. These founders packs were called the Silver, Gold and Archaeum packs. One of the bonuses they granted was also guaranteed entry in the closed betas as well as constant alpha access. When the game would finally launch, these Founders would get a four day head start.
Now, this four day head start has been marred by malicious DDoS attacks, which have allowed players to only go online for a very short periods at a time. To be fair, XL Games has handled this with grace and honesty, simply telling players that yes, these are attacks and yes, they are working on it.
Here's How You Get Away With In-Game Moidah In ArcheAge
Our own experiences with ArcheAge in the fourth closed beta event were quite positive, so do not let this setback deter you from trying out a game that doesn't cost anything.
Hey folks - Wanted to be open with everyone: Yes this is a DDoS, and yes we're all over it. Stay tuned for updates.

We're still in the midst of a DDoS attack, but our teams are hard at work to get you back in the game. — ArcheAge (@ArcheAge) September 13, 2014
In nicer Archeage-related news, two new servers are open starting today: Aier for Europe and Inoch for North America, to keep up with skyrocketing demand.
