The fourth season of the TNT post-alien invasion show Falling Skies has ended on yet another cliffhanger. Whatever shall you do until next summer when the final season rolls around? Developer Little Orbit has your back with some new details on their upcoming Falling Skies: The Game.
Metro 2033 Redux Is The Unsung Hero Of The Post-Apocalyptic Genre
The game will combine strategic base building/resource gathering elements and tactical turn-based gameplay modes. From Little Orbit, "In between each mission, the player will return to Base Camp; from here the player can perform various tasks such as customizing units, obtaining new recruits, visiting wounded allies, and paying respects to fallen comrades."
Additionally, for the base building elements, "major areas within the base feature various upgrades and perks which the player can purchase and unlock; these can be researched in any order according to the player's needs and available resources, but purchasing some or all of the upgrades will provide a significant advantage to the player in their quest to complete the game's missions."
Zombie Actioner Dying Light Gets A January Release
The turn-based elements requires players to spend their allotment of points in order to move and attack the Espheni troops. Given the weapons superiority of the alien invaders, you have to be smart about this. Humans are like the buzzing of flies to the Espheni. "Each turn consists of an ally phase and an enemy phase. So, players will need to coordinate the actions of each unit in their squad to work together as a team."
Falling Skies is the perfect summer show. It has a bit of everything you want, even if it gets a little too earnest and a tad too ridiculous; but not everything needs to be Breaking Bad. It's good summer fun. Definitely among the best action titles available during the summer months. I hope the game can capture the spirit of the show.
Falling Skies: The Game will put you alongside the 2nd Mass as you attempt to repel the alien invaders on September 30. The game will be available for purchase and download for the Xbox 360, PS3, Steam and Wii U.
