Capcom and Microsoft has teamed up to battle piracy as an increasing number of Xbox 360 hackers were able to tap into unreleased content for Street Fighter X Tekken. Capcom originally sought assistance from fans to report players who is using any unreleased DLC fighters. A thread was opened on the forum for users to post screenshots. Capcom later announced that they will track and pursue hackers with the collaboration of Microsoft.
"Yes, we're seeing news of this. Quite ballsy for folks to be taking hacked Xbox 360s on Live where they are detectable," said Capcom's Senior Vice President Christian Svensson. "In any event, we already have opened channels of communication with Microsoft on these issues Friday night. If you can capture screens or video of this in action (as some have already) we're working on bans for boxes and accounts with Microsoft for haxxors."
Street Fighter X Tekken was released with downloadable content already contained in the disc. Gamers would purchase the discs but not have access to additional content until the company decides to sell them at a later time. It is reported that 12 new fighters are locked away inside the disc. The new characters were supposed to be scheduled for a later release date, once the PlayStation Vita version is out. Some fans couldn't wait and may argue that the purchase of the disc enables them access to the hidden content.
Capcom explained that keeping the content on the discs will prevent heavy downloads and players can quickly gain access their paid content. Both companies will continue to find methods in preventing future hacks to the game's content.
