PlayStation Celebrates Naughty Dog With New Video Retrospective Teaser, Naughty Dog 30th Anniversary Art Book Available At Show Later This Month

New Video Teases Full-Length Naughty Dog Retrospective, 30th Anniversary Art Book Available At Art Show Later This Month

The festivities for Naughty Dog's 30th birthday are almost here, and to tease the upcoming celebration, PlayStation has released a new video commemorating the developer's history of unexpected success.

The Last Of Us Remastered DLC Adds New Maps And Multiplayer Fixes For PS3, PS4

The new video is only a small portion of a larger video that will take viewers through Naughty Dog's 30-year history, from the unassuming runaway hit of Crash Bandicoot to the multiple "Game Of The Year" awards of The Last of Us. According to a new post on the developer's website, the full video will be revealed first throughout the developer's art show in Southern California in early October and then released online later that month.

The teaser video not only shows how two developers 30 years ago accidentally founded one of the more successful modern development studios, but it also shows how the studio struggled during transitions. Being able to go from making kids' games like Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter to serious and mature games like Uncharted and The Last of Us is part of what has made Naughty Dog consistently successful, but it has not been easy on the developers themselves, as the video shows.

The New Uncharted Will Still Be Lighthearted, Will Not Just Be A Last Of Us Clone

In its post, Naughty Dog also detailed the sale of their upcoming retrospective art book The Art of Naughty Dog. At the upcoming art show, the book will be on sale both in standard and super slick limited editions alongside a collection of anniversary T-shirts. The art show officially opens September 27. For the rest of us nowhere near Southern California, the anniversary gear will be also available elsewhere at a later date.
