One of the most anticipated games hitting this fall for us here at GameNGuide is Styx: Master of Shadows. The latest trailer from Cyanide Studio, which highlights some of the titular assassin's handiwork, is precisely why we're a bit giddy.
Assassin's Creed Unity Heist Missions Let You Run With Your Friends
The trailer shows off one of Styx's Amber abilities. Amber is sort of the magical steroids in the game and allows the tiny green anti-hero to perform superhuman (supergoblin?) acts of deception and thievery. We get a look at the Clone skill, which opens up a whole new set of tactical and strategic: you can send your clone in on a crazed suicide run while you slip by unannounced, distract guards, blind them and even drag them into chests. The theory behind Styx is not to run across rooftops and then kill everybody in hilariously one-sided sword fights; you have to be smart and cunning and use the environment and your guile to avoid combat.
Besides, it is much more satisfying to stab that dude in the back. Especially those elves. Those smug, smug elves.
Styx, Assassin's Green Trailer Playfully Mocks That Other Franchise
The Styx clone is the ultimate ephemeral companion, and the right mix of distraction and skill will open hundreds of opportunities to exploit games in the guards patrols. Styx can always rely on his clone but unable to defend itself, get caught in the light, and the entire Tower will descend upon him.You must be careful, though.
The skills are reliant on Amber, and that is hard to come by.
Styx: Master of Shadows comes out this October for PC, Xbox One and PS4. Watch the trailer below.
