The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details keep coming from Nintendo ahead of the staggered release of both versions, with the 3DS title set to hit on October 3. The Wii U version does not yet have a set release date, but is due out some time this holiday season.
Meta Knight Unveiled As Playable Character In Upcoming Super Smash Bros
Several new characters and other details were revealed at E3 as expected, and we got to see the game in action in a live tournament. Even after these major announcements, though, series director Masahiro Sakurai continues to give us comparatively smaller details through the official site in the form of a daily picture update.
The focus has been on the 3DS version since its release date draws near, but today's post switches back to a general announcement: Pikmin 3's Alph will be a playable character.
Super Smash Bros Demo Hits Japan, Release In Other Regions On The Way
Here's Sakurai on the reveal:
"The hero from Pikmin 3, Alph joins the battle!! He has pretty much the same set skills as Olimar since he's basically just his variation. He can't use Rock Pikmin either."
It appears that Alph is mostly a clone character, which some dislike while others don't mind. The more the merrier, I say--keep checking back for more Super Smash Bros. news each day, where we'll hopefully see new character reveals or a Wii U release date.
