Everything You Need To Know About Today's Apple Event

Silicon Valley is convulsing with excitement over the new releases from Apple, which the company showcased in a keynote address today at the Flint Center in Cupertino, California (Apple's hometown), where late founder Steve Jobs introduced the world to such game-changing products as the first Macintosh back in the 1980s.

Rumors had been swirling for many months about the new iPhone release from Apple. Like last year, Apple is releasing two different iPhones. Instead of having a cheaper, more colorful product like the iPhone 5C, CEO Tim Cook unveiled two sleek smartphones with different sizes. The more basic model is the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. The new luxury model from Apple, however, will be the iPhone 6 Plus, which boasts a pocket-bursting 5.5-inch screen. The iPhone 5S had a 4-inch screen.

For the first time since Steve Jobs passed in 2011, Apple savored a "one more thing" moment-this time releasing a smartwatch, the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch includes a dedicated interface, includes several features dedicated to fitness and could stand to change the still on-the-fringe wearable market.

Apple also showed us Apple Pay, a mobile payment system that lets iPhone 6 and Apple Watch owners make payments at participating businesses by swiping their device- essentially replacing credit cards.

The Apple Watch won't be available until early next year. The new iPhones will be available September 19.
