Today marks Destiny's launch onto home consoles, new and old, and if you want to hear Paul McCartney's latest work in its full glory on a Sony system, you might want to look into their new, cheaper option for headsets.
Nyko Introduces Wireless Controller Charging Stations For PS4 And Xbox One
The new Silver Wired Stereo Headset for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 was announced by Sony this week. Available to PlayStation users for $69.99, the Silver Wired headset offers a $30 price advantage over the Gold Wireless Stereo Headset. From what it seems, that $30 price drop mostly only manifests in the fact that the wired version keeps you tethered to your device. For players looking for a cheaper headset option, though, that's not an unreasonable sacrifice.
Like the Gold Wireless headset, the Silver Wired headset offers 7.1 surround sound and a retractable mic for some good old fashioned multiplayer trash talk. Volume and mic controls for the headset are easily accessible, and the whole package was designed to be light and comfortable lest it prove to be a barrier to hours-long game binges.
Even Sony Doesn't Know Why The PS4 Is Selling So Well
PlayStation headsets also give users access to special audio modes that developers create for their PlayStation games. Destiny is one example of these games that include custom-tuned audio modes for stereo headset users. These audio modes are available through the free Headset Companion App for PS3 and PS4.
The Silver Wired Stereo Headset is compatible with the PS Vita and can be plugged into any device with a 3.5 mm jack, so it's not just for PlayStation use, either. It's set to release sometime this fall.
