A new update for Xbox One's Skype app lets users view pictures and gives Skype much more functionality while Snapped, Skype announced yesterday.

Skype's 1.8 update for Xbox One added the ability to view pictures sent by other Skype users on mobile devices. According to Skype, the app can display pictures sent from Windows Phones and iOS devices in either a two-person chat or a group chat. If your friends send you multiple pictures, you can also turn the whole collection into a slideshow for easy perusing.
The update also increased Skype's functionality with the Xbox One Snap function. If you get a call while playing a game, you can have the best of both worlds and answer it without even pressing pause. A simple voice command is enough to pick up the virtual phone and Snap the call to the side. Then if you decide to prioritize your social life over your game later (tough call, I know), you can choose to expand the call to full-screen.

The update app also allows you to do even more with Skype all while it's Snapped. You can now browse through your most recent and favorited contacts from the Snapped app and make calls without interrupting your episode of NCIS. You can also check previews of messages you get on Skype while the app is Snapped then transition into the full-screen app when you're ready to respond.
You can pick up Skype on your Xbox One, now even without an Xbox Live Gold membership.
