Bioshock iOS Version Launches for iPhone, iPad, Brings Rapture To The Touch Screen [LAUNCH TRAILER]

Return To Rapture: Bioshock Brings Its Original Adventure To iOS

Just more than seven years after its original release, Bioshock is seeing yet another launch, this time on the touch screens of iOS devices.

Bioshock Gets Remade In Unreal Engine 4

The original Rapture adventure is available today on the Apple App Store for $14.99 in a new port that brings 2K's celebrated first-person shooter to iPhones and iPads. The entire world, complete with gene-altering plasmids, upgradable weapons and hacker-friendly machines has been reworked with touch controls – though purists can take solace in the fact that the game supports Bluetooth and Made for iPhone game controllers. The first installment of one of the most defining franchises of the last console generation is now available for you to take on the bus.

This new mobile port is introducing a host of social features into the game as well. Through the iOS Game Center, players can check out the game's leaderboards and see how their in-game stats – like plasmids used or kill count (which, let's face it, is the one that gets you the bragging rights) – compares to those of their friends. The app also comes with an artbook that can be viewed from within the app, great for a game like Bioshock that is so rooted in art.

The Bioshock Vita Game Would Have Been A 'Tactics' Style, Turn-Based Game

To run Bioshock, Apple phone and tablet users should be running at least iOS 7.1. 2K warns that the game will only run on the iPhone 5 series, the iPad 4, the iPad Mini 2 and the iPad Air.

On the iPhone, there are no gods or kings. But now, at least there's Bioshock.
