To celebrate the one-year anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Square Enix is filling the MMO with special events that continue through mid-September.
Final Fantasy V Comes To Kindle Fire
Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of the MMO's relaunch, and to celebrate, Square Enix has been putting several events into motion over the past couple of weeks. The highlight of this birthday of sorts is a free login campaign that runs until Sept. 1. Throughout the duration of this campaign, inactive players who have previously purchased and registered their copy of Final Fantasy XIV can hop back into the world of Eorzea for free. Also marking the occasion is a new season event called The Rising. From Aug. 28 through Sept. 8, players will be able to acquire in-game items meant to commemorate those lost to the Calamity, the in-game explanation for the end of service for the original launch of the game before it was revamped and relaunched in its current version.
Other events include the Tales from the Calamity, where main characters will tell five short stories that delve deeper into the lore of that in-game event that separates Final Fantasy XIV Online from A Realm Reborn. Illustrations from the game's art team are also being posted on the game's website in the days leading up to the anniversary, followed by a series of messages from members of the development team that will be posted until Sept. 13.
