Independent developer Jackbox Games, the studio behind zany quiz show game You Don't Know Jack, has announced the release of a new party game, Fibbage. It's available today on Xbox One, and is coming to PlayStation 4 and PS3 in September.

You Don't Know Jack was known for the irreverent and effective humor provided by a commentator while you and friends answered questions, and Fibbage is a party game in a similar vein. Up to eight players can join in using phones and tablets as controllers as you attempt to fool your friends with fill-in-the-blank answers and other lies.
In Fibbage, everyone submits a word to fill in the missing part of a definition or phrase, and then someone tries to determine the truth from their friends' lies. The definitions are strange and obscure in and of themselves, which is half the fun of the game. You Don't Know Jack host Cookie Masterson (responsible for most of what made that game funny) resumes his duties in Fibbage.

If you're still unclear on how the game works, the trailer below explains the rules--the visuals may help you understand more easily. You can join on your laptop as a controller (in addition to phones and tablets) the same way you would on those devices. You simply log in to a provided website and join your game room with a code to get in on the action.
"We're trying to corner the market on live, multiplayer party games that you play with friends on your couch or bed, depending on the type of party it is," said Mike Bilder, GM of Jackbox Games. "Fibbage is just the first in a series of 'party play' games, as we call them, that we plan to release. No huge stash of controllers needed, just some friends with phones and your favorite console."
Fibbage is available now on the Xbox Store for $6.99, and was published through the ID @ Xbox program. The PS4 and PS3 versions will support cross-play, and will release in "early September".
