Namco Bandai officially announced that their latest title Soul Calibur 5 will be available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game continues on the Soul Calibur franchise by taking the latest story 17 years into the future. The game hopes to reveal more character development and back story between Soul Calibur and Soul Edge. Some changes in the character lineup includes the exit of the female ninja Taki. The company worked to keep a balance list of characters that included fan favorites such as Ivy and Nightmare but additions of Ezio Auditore de Firenze from Assassin's Creed.
"We just needed to push the story forward which was tricky, because we didn't want to get rid of the existing characters that our players have come to love, such as Ivy, Nightmare, Astaroth - it's a long list," director Daishi Odashima said.
