The Pokemon Company is running another event for Pokemon X and Y, following up its special Vivillon gift from May with a Heracross and Pinsir giveaway starting in August.

The event will run from August 13 to September 17, giving away Heracross for Pokémon X (previously only encountered in Pokémon Y) or Pinsir for Pokémon Y (previously only encountered in Pokémon X) over an internet connection.
If you're willing to make a trip, there's more to it: starting August 18, players who visit participating GameStop stores in the United States can also receive a code for a Mega Stone, which can evolve either Heracross or Pinsir into Mega Heracross and Mega Pinsir. The Mega Stone will be Heracronite for Heracross and Pinsirite for Pinsir, depending on which you need.

For those who don't know off-hand, Pinsir is a Bug-type Pokemon, while Heracross (his Mega evolution pictured below) is a Bug-Fighting hybrid. Pinsir was originally introduced in Pokemon Blue as the opposite of Pokemon Red's Scyther, while Heracross made its debut in Pokemon Gold and Silver, and is the only Bug-Fighting hybrid.
The Vivillon giveaway was created to celebrate the milestone of 100 million trades in Pokemon X and Y, which was met recently. Unlike Pinsir and Heracross in the upcoming event, the Vivillon was a unique in appearance, but fans are likely to enjoy the cross-version gift regardless.
