A mere 30 years after Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, audiences around the world will finally be able to revisit iconic character Max Rockatansky in the post-apocalyptic Australian outback.
Marvel Comic Con Recap: Avengers, Guardians Of The Galaxy Previews
Mel Gibson may not be back, but Tom Hardy seems to be an appropriately stoic replacement for the character of Mad Max. Hugh Keays-Byrne IS back, although obviously in another role than Toecutter from the original film - he's main villain Immortan Joe in this one, sporting an ironically Bane-like facemask as he captures and tortures the actual Bane from The Dark Knight Rises.
The trailer shows us Max being captured by a crew of marauders (among which a Voldemort looking Nicholas Hoult from X-Men), forcibly tattooed ("working genitals") and... well, words can't really do justice to the amazing chase sequences director George Miller shows us here. The Australian outback (and Namibia standing in for Australia) looks absolutely gorgeous, with rich reds and oranges looking fresh against the current desaturated blockbuster look.

And let's not forget, Charlize Theron has a robot arm! Her character, Imperator Furiosa, is escorting a group of fertile young women (a rarity) across a dangerous land, making them a target for vicious slavers. Among them are Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Transformers 3) and Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class, Divergent). Are you excited? We certainly are!
Mad Max: Fury Road will see release on May 15, 2015.
