At their San Diego Comic Con panel, developers Insomniac Games showcased just how nuts you can go in character customization in their upcoming Xbox One exclusive platform actioner Sunset Overdrive.
Sunset Overdrive Mondo Poster Revealed
Besides battling monsters in a high-octane, thrill-a-minute rainbow-colored environment, you'll also be able to make a rainbow connection with your player avatar. Creative director Marcus Smith and game director Drew Murry talk about their conscious decisions to make all the gear you can acquire in Sunset Overdrive not stat-driven, so you can really dress and look the way you want, without having to worry about what bonuses which item gives you. A bold decision!
Meanwhile, art director Jacinda Chen talks about how important diversity was to her on this game, and how she strove to incorporate that in the feel of the world and the player's experience with their chosen avatar. Gender, race, body type - all up for grabs! I really can't get over how pretty and fun this game looks. The positive influences of Saint's Row IV are paying dividends.
Sunset Overdrive Explains Xbox Exclusivity
In Sunset Overdrive, the player takes control of a fully customizable main character who is a lowly FizzCo employee who must clean up the mess after the launch party of a new energy drink. What do you make of all this freedom, plus the ability to shoot mutated energy drink victims in a gorgeously colourful world as well? Check it out in the Comic Con video below!
