Kirkman developed Outcast with FOX International Channels (FIC) at the same time he was developing the comic book series of the same name for his Skybound imprint at Image Comics. The first issue of the comic book, which was released in June of this year, has not only exceeded The Walking Dead comic book sales at their peak, but has also been met with overwhelming enthusiasm from fans and critics alike.
The second issue will debut at Comic-Con tomorrow.

Kirkman is best known for penning the endless zombie saga The Walking Dead, which is now the highest rated show on cable television. The new series is about demons. It follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a journey to find answers but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it. Because it's not a Kirkman story without a dose of the apocalypse. He sure sounds excited!

Kirkman will also pen the pilot episode and serve as one of the executive producers.
Cinemax is an excellent home for tricky, untested genre work. Banshee is a great little southern violence tale, while Strike Back may be the purest form of action entertainment available outside of the 1980s. The level of violence and darkness that a subscription based channel, and without the need to rake in weekly numbers, should allow the show to be as dark and twisted as it was meant to be.
