NHL 15 Puck And Player Physics Aim To Recreate Hockey's Unpredictability And Realistic Hits

EA Sports has been keeping us up to date on the progress with NHL 15, the first game in the hockey sim series to make the jump to current generation consoles.

Rumored Microsoft Layoffs Announced, 18,000 Employees To Lose Jobs

A new video and developer post focus on the improved physics from the game, both for the players and the puck itself. The aim is to authentically recreate the unpredictability of hockey, in which a simple bounce, deflection, or hit can change the game. You can watch the additions and explanations for yourself in the video below.

"12 Player NHL Collision Physics and Real Puck Physics capture the hard hitting chaos and unpredictability of hockey. Collision Physics utilizes the power of next generation consoles and the critically-acclaimed NHL Collision Physics system, to put every player on the ice into physics at all times. This means that every player on the ice is susceptible to authentic collisions, no matter the situation.

"The result of this new physics system is true-to-life secondary collisions, net scrambles and player pileups that truly capture the desperation of every shift. All-new Real Puck Physics leads to the unpredictable and authentic puck spins, rolls and bounces seen in a real NHL game."

The title certainly looks better than its predecessors graphically (thanks to the improved hardware), and features new commentators Doc Emrick and Eddie Olczyk. The former commentary duo was good, but it had grown stale over many years of service to EA's franchise. Stay tuned as the developers show off new features as release this fall approaches, and enjoy the video.
