Anyone who has not yet tried adventuring in Final Fantasy XIV's world of Eorzea, now's your chance. It truly is... A Realm Reborn!
Final Fantasy XIV: ARR - What You Need To Know
To coincide with the release of their new 2.3 content patch, Square Enix has decided to instate a free gameplay weekend this very weekend (from Friday July 18 12:00am to Monday July 21 12:00am PDT). So if you have a PS3, PS4 or a mid-tier PC and feel compelled to strap on some mystifying leather belts all over your person, you won't have any excuse not to!
To perhaps entice some of you dormant Bahamut-like players from your artificial moon induced slumbers, previously registered but inactive accounts will be eligible for this free-to-play weekend as well. If you need a re-download of the client (or just a first one), click here to get it.
Gamer Finds Lost Quest In Final Fantasy IX, 13 Years After Release
The patch notes mention updates in story quests (literally dozens have been added in both the main story and Chronicles Of A New Era, with another couple of dozen in sidequests). A riddle quest mechanic has been introduced, and six Grand Company quests were added. Several new items you will also be privy to, as well as a gradual price drop in player real estate. Thirty days after the drop of patch 2.3, initial player housing prices should be down by half. If only real life were like Final Fantasy, and not just for the random leather straps passing as clothing!
Feeling tempted yet? If nothing else, a subscription based MMO in this day and age probably means its user base is really, really dedicated. This could be annoying to some, but also pretty much guarantees there's no amateur chowderheads to muck up the works.
