‘ArcheAge’ MMO Juries In Alpha Already Being Bribed By Players Seeking To Avoid In-Game Prison

Jury’s Still Out On ArcheAge Cuz Players Paid Jurors To Go Take A Hike

In-development MMO ArcheAge is having some problems with of a very human nature in its alpha mode: namely, the in-game judicial system has already become corrupt.

ArcheAge Closed Beta Release Date Announced

GNG has reported on ArcheAge's upcoming beta and the special features that would allow it to stand out in a booming MMO scene, one of which was the presence of player-run courts and juries able to pass judgment and actually punish other players. Looks like social experiments are gonna social experiment!

In an interview with PCGamesN, the head of publishing company Trion Worlds expressed happiness at this: "There's been times when, since it's luck of the draw who gets picked for the jury, it will be a jury full of people who are guildmates and friends. You'd think that would always result in someone getting off, about half the time we're seeing people sticking it to their own friends."

Guild Wars 2 Sees Release In China, Doubles Numbers

Anyone who watched The Wire should not be surprised at that last one. But do not worry, prisons that you are sent to have prison-specific activities (get your mind out of the gutter), complete with area-specific loot. Plus, you can even bust out if you so desire. I have to admit this is a pretty cool mechanic.

Along with being able to captain your own ship, buy land and build your own castle, ArcheAge seems to be heading towards some interesting times. Could it be a new EVE Online? Any of you future beta players wanna make a character called Harvey Dent, really clean up those juries?
