NeoTokyo is touted as a very tactical multiplayer shooter by developer STUDIO RADI-8, emphasizing "positioning, teamwork and timing". As one team-member puts it: "The gameplay has been tweaked for YEARS before it was released on the Steam store. The game is easy to play but hard to master. You WILL get smacked down by players who've been playing longer than you. But camping the ghost/cap points and working with your team and communicating will DEFINITELY protect you and score you points. The teamwork of all players is insanely good. There's mad amounts of sportsmanship, friendliness and forgiveness for teamkills. And you WILL get teamkills." Thanks bud!
The game is set in a futuristic cyberpunk Japan, but still emphasizes visceral realism. The game synopsis doesn't immediately reveal what is exactly cyberpunk about it, since it promises a shadow war between factions known as the NSF and JINRAI (not to be confused with Juntao, Tom Wilkinson's villainous alter ego from the first Rush Hour) in a future about three decades from now in a Japan torn by political strife. Maybe all the black ops guys are secret cyborgs? A look at the trailer will rather hilariously show you that at one point one of the teams finds a bare breasted robot torso (like in Ghost In The Shell) and a team member dramatically runs out of the building with it. If the flag in Capture The Flag mode is a bare-breasted torso, I am fully supportive of this visceral and realistic cyberpunk experience.
