Ascension developer Stone Blade Entertainment is pleased to announce that they are continuing their partnership with prolific mobile game developer Playdek, who have developed and released such titles as Lords of Waterdeep, Fluxx and Agricola.
Clash of Clans Update Is Now Finally Live
The new agreement concerns the development and distribution of the popular deck building game Ascension, now available on the App store. "Playdek will continue to develop mobile and video games based on the popular board game series, including creating versions of the game for Android, PC and additional platforms."
The new expansion, titled the Rise of Vigil, will launch sometime this summer, with the Android version hitting the Marketplace soon thereafter. Both Ascension and all of its expansions are based on the massively popular board game of the same name.
New Naruto Game Gets Some Pre-Order Goodies
For those of you unaware of Ascension, it is a Dominion-esque deck building game which currently has several expansions and additional promotional cards available for purchase. I am not being hyperbolic when I say that of the dozens of games I have on my phone, not a single one gets played more than Ascension.
It is, in my mind, the perfect mobile gaming experience: quick, strategic, random, fun and addictive. I sometimes play even when I don't want to because it keeps my mind thinking.
"We're thrilled to continue working with Playdek," said Justin Gary, Founder and CEO, Stone Blade Entertainment. "They did an incredible job on the original Ascension app, and we look forward to bringing the same high-quality game experience to our Android and PC fans." Gary is a former Magic: The Gathering World Champion and developed Ascension originally.
Rise of Vigil, like all Ascension expansions, will introduce a new mechanic into the game: treasure. The new game mechanic, which creates 'Energy Shard' cards, acts like a bonus to be collected from the play area and will allow players to pump certain cards. The learning curve can be tricky on any Ascension expansion, especially one as robust as Rise of Vigil, but if it's like any of the others, you will soon be wondering how you ever played without it.
The digital version is several releases behind the printed game. The game recently released the 6th expansion, Realms Unraveled. Rise of Vigil is only the 4th expansion to get the digital treatment. It has been several months since the last expansion Immortal Heroes hit the store.
No word on the exact release date for the expansion. Pick up Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer and all of its expansions and promos at the App store. Android users, just be a little patient, it will all come in time.
