Attendees to this year's QuakeCon will be getting more than just the finest QUAKE LIVE players competing for the biggest pot in the tournament's history. They will also be treated to some exclusive looks at ZeniMax's and others' upcoming content.
QuakeCon Opens The Tournament To All Challengers
The convention begins Thursday July 17. At 6 PM, the welcome event kicks off with a sneak peek at the upcoming DOOM game from id Software. The grand-daddy of all first person shooters was teased at this year's E3 and the Cyber-Demon is looking mighty fine.
DOOM is not just the only anticipated property making its appearance. Gamers will get to try out Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami's latest survival horror game, The Evil Within. Stripping away the more action oriented late RE entries, TEW is sure to reinvigorate and re-emphasis the term 'horror'.
Hearthstone: Curse of Naxxramas Pricing Delay Reasons Revealed
If you were hoping to get into the open QUAKE LIVE tournament but didn't make the cut, you can still flex your multiplayer muscle with BATTLECRY, a new 32-man ultimate mayhem tournament. Stop by the booth for details. Maybe they'll have some cool prizes to win also.
On Friday, July 18 at 5:00pm, Senior members of the ZeniMax Elder Scrolls Online team, representing a variety of disciplines, will discuss plans for short-term and long-term future content, approaches to addressing player feedback and suggestions, bringing The Elder Scrolls Online onto consoles, and more. The panel will be followed by a Q&A and the first 3,000 attendees will receive a free copy of The Elder Scrolls Online.
Ever read about the latest upcoming games and think, how do they even make this stuff? Well, now you'll have your chance for a front row seat to a game design panel. "Attendees can also check out "Designing the Perfect Game", a panel taking place on the Ventrilo Main Stage on Saturday, July 19th at 5:00pm. Join a colorful panel, which includes a former NFL kicker, several game developers and an actor from Step Up as they work together to design the perfect game. Moderated by Andrew Reiner, executive editor at Game Informer Magazine, the panelists will work together to design a game concept which will be judged by Feargus Urquhart (CEO of Obsidian Entertainment). After the panel, attendees can weigh in on the game design and provide feedback and reviews.
The first 1,500 attendees will also receive a Bethesda t-shirt!
Fans of more analog pursuits will also have a place at Quakecon. "Join Friday Night Magic on Friday evening at 7:00pm located in the BYOC's Table Top Village to celebrate the release of the 2015 Magic the Gathering Core Set (M15). As this is a sealed event, anyone at any skill level can participate. The tabletop area will also host additional M15 drafts throughout the rest of the weekend whenever at least 8 people want to join in. Additionally, Common Ground Games will also be holding a Ticket to Ride Tournament on Saturday where a copy of the 10th Anniversary Ticket to Ride is up for grabs." See, who needs several thousand dollars? Ticket To Ride is worth more than all of it. Seriously, it's a great game.
You can find the full line up at the official QuakeCon page. If you're attending, be sure to download the App here. There's a lot more to the convention than just QUAKE LIVE. Expect to hear more coming out of Dallas from July 17-20.
