An HD conversion on your favorite games and movies sounds impressive. But what, exactly, does it do? The fine folks at Square Enix and Disney have just released an interactive HD/SD comparison trailer for their upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX ultimate mash up game to show off the various technical improvements in the game.
DYNASTY WARRIORS: Gundam Reborn Now Available For PS3
The trailer uses some key scenes from both Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, which are integrated into the same storyline for one continuous experience. Both games were previously only available in Japan.
The foremost difference you notice is that the gamma has been turned up. The color palette is just a little bit brighter. A small change but a very agreeable one. I found my interest piqued during the HD remastered versions, and the visual improvements help make the level and character design stand out more. Which is very important when you're crowded with so many colorful Disney characters.
Summoners War Sky Arena Patch Goes Live With New Monsters And Guilds
Several characters have also undergone costume changes. While in Halloween Town, Sora is now a little less goth and little more understated in his interactions with Jack Skellington. He's sporting a black Santa hat, which makes more sense considering the source material.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMix is not yet rated and will be hitting store shelves on December 2, just in time for the holidays. The game will only be available on the PS3 system and you can preorder it here.
Watch and interact with the HD/SD graphics below. What do you think? Is it an improvement, or a step backwards?
