'Sunset Overdrive' Chaos Squad Trailer Explains The Game's 'Horde Mode Meets Tower Defense' 8-Player Multiplayer [VIDEO]

Sunset Overdrive Chaos Squad Trailer Explains The Horde Mode Meets Tower Defense Multiplayer

Insomniac Games showed off the first of Sunset Overdrive's cooperative multiplayer modes at E3, and today released a video explaining the mode in greater detail.

Crytek's Free To Play Shooter Warface Now Available On Steam

The mode, called Chaos Squad, is an eight player co-op experience that allows you to choose the difficulty of your missions, which then culminates in an event called "Night Defense".

The missions your team votes on along the way represent varying degrees of difficulty, and will give you greater awards the harder they are. The higher your chaos score (more is handed out for harder missions), the more difficult the Night Defense mode will be at the end of your run.

FIFA 15's Graphics Drastically Improve Player Faces, Make Hair And Clothing More Realistic

Night Defense is a mix of horde mode and tower defense that will pit you and your squad against waves of enemies attacking an area you need to hold. In addition to using your abilities and weapons, you'll be given time before the assault begins to set up defenses and traps that will help thin the enemy waves.

You can see the missions and Night Defense in the video below, which explains them in further detail. Sunset Overdrive continues to look fantastic graphically, with all of the action on screen not appearing to slow down the game. Your character will carry over straight from singleplayer, and you can unlock weapons and other items that can be used across story mode and Chaos Squad. Playing with a group against an impending horde looks like a lot of fun, so be sure to check out the footage.
