Supercell rolled out the last of its sneak peeks for the upcoming Clash of Clans update yesterday and they are the strongest yet. Let's call it the Royal Patch, because our king and queen are getting some upgrades.
Supercell Introduces Live Streaming To Clash of Clans
That's right, in a post by Supercell forum mod Marika, she let's us in on the improvements towards the Heroes, the burly king and nimble queen that protect your base: "The King and Queen are now much smarter on defense, have distinct strengths and weaknesses, and their abilities are more important than ever."
The update will treat heroes more like defensive buildings, while keeping them their own separate unit. No longer will enemy combatants be able to lure the heroes out, now, the enemy has to come to them. The King and Queen will only attack troops that enter their radius from now on.
Clash of Clans Improves The Jump Spell
Supercell is adding some low level power ups! Sort of. The King and Queen have their HP and damage output increased at lower levels. Conversely, at higher levels, those stats have now been decreased to make for improved Hero abilities.
What it seems like, and the test video confirms, is that Supercell has taken a page from World of Warcraft and is crafting the hero units into a more combat effective role, rather than slightly stronger unit. The King is similar to a Tank now, with the ability to take on a lot of challengers and has high Hit Points, while the Queen is very much a Katniss-esque DPS dealer, who can dole out damage from afar.
The specifics of the hero abilities are meant to better balance the unit and the flow of combat, too.
The Barbarian King - His damage has been reduced, but he now can heal himself greatly when using the Iron Fist ability (you can see in the video the health points being increased upon the activation of his ability).
The Barbarian horde summoned by Iron Fist has doubled in size to cause even more mayhem.
Use Iron Fist at the right time to help the King take more damage than he ever could before.
The Archer Queen, meanwhile, gets the following: Her hitpoints have been reduced in later levels, but the Queen now gains a tremendous damage boost while her Royal Cloak ability is active.
The duration of Royal Cloak has been greatly increased in lower levels to help make sure the Queen has enough time to land her most powerful of shots.
Use Royal Cloak at the right time to help the Queen hit important targets harder than she ever could before!
Now, the only question is: when does the update hit? Soon, very soon. We'll let you know as soon as we can. Watch the video explaining the King and Queen upgrades below and tell us what you think in the comments section. We love hearing from you.
