BBC's Doctor Who has finally gotten a premiere date. The worldwide phenomenon will begin its eighth season on August 23 8 PM EST. The company has just put out a teaser showing off the new doctor, Peter Capaldi, as he appears to suffer from a crises of conscience.

The feature length premiere will be titled 'Deep Breath' and will be Capaldi's first full length appearance as the Time Lord since his ever so brief appearance during last season's finale, when Matt Smith's popular Doctor regenerated into the much older version he is now. He will be the 12th actor (or 13th if you're counting John Hurt) to play the legendary role.
There are teases, and there are teases. This 15 second clip falls under the latter. I cannot even comment on it outside of saying that it appears, somewhat to take place during the end of last season's finale, with the Doctor's TARDIS on fire. A quick zoom in to Capaldi's eyes reveals Clara (Jenna Coleman) who says "I don't think I know who the Doctor is anymore." That's literally all there is to it.

Fans were disappointed to see Matt Smith go, but I am sure they will warm to Capaldi, who will bring a more mature and hopefully troubled Doctor to the Steven Moffat-helmed series. Too long has the Doctor simply magicked his way out of trouble, and I am hoping that this season will focus more on the Doctor's own brand of ingenuity and not simply revert to 'the sonic screwdriver fixes it.' The season will most likely revolve around the Doctor and Clara's search for the Doctor's homeplanet, Gallifrey, once thought lost in the great Time War between the Time Lords and the sinister Daleks.
Capaldi is best known for swearing just a whole hell of a lot. Will his Doctor be as incorrigible? We can only hope so!
Watch the trailer below! And tune in this August.
