The first round of fixtures for World Cup 2014 are in the books, with plenty more excitement ahead. Using FIFA 14's new World Cup mode, I've been simulating each match to see how EA's engine fares in determining the results.
How Accurate Has FIFA 14 Been In Predicting Results So Far?
Between Brazil's controversial opener, the collapse of world champions Spain, Costa Rica's impressive victories, and Messi's late heroics, the competition has so far offered plenty of entertainment, along with plenty of goals.
America's attention will be turned to its national team tomorrow, which is set to play against Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo. Unfortunately for our fans, FIFA 14 is not predicting a kind outcome, simulating a 3-0 loss.

Raul Miereles, of all players, started the scoring with a blast from the edge of the box in the 40th minute (he is capable of this, to be fair). Moutinho doubled the lead 18 minutes later, converting a short chipped pass from Nani. Ronaldo finished off the rout with nine minutes to play, heading home a Postiga cross.
This Portuguese team has been roughed up with some injuries and suspensions, and even though they didn't look convincing against Germany, it sadly wouldn't be surprising if the superior talent didn't result in a win like this. Tune in tomorrow at 6 p.m. ET to see if FIFA 14 got it right--which it hopefully did not.
