The episode not only contained a shocking twist in and of itself when things seemed to be going well for once, but the repercussions going forward would seem to spell the end for a fan-favorite character. Oberyn Martell's death, caused by his desire for vengeance and his own hubris, mans Tyrion Lannister is sentenced to execution, as his fate rode on the outcome of his champion's battle with Ser Gregor Clegane, The Mountain.

A humorous recreation of the fight scene can be watched here, featuring the song Simply The Best and an outcome that results in The Mountain's death and Oberyn's victory. Twyin Lannister shouting "freedom!" would in fact be a superior version of the scene, but I suppose we'll have to make do with reality.
The reaction video below takes place at The Burlington Bar, which is full on unsuspecting patrons who think Oberyn has won the day. The shock is palpable, and many hands are clutched to faces and heads are shaken in disbelief.
