2nd Mass, roll out! TNT's post-alien invasion hit show Falling Skies is coming to the Wii U, PS3 and Xbox 360 this autumn, publisher Little Orbit announced in a press release.
Director Doug Liman Talks Splinter Cell Movie
The game will be a tactical, covert action RPG in which players will assume command of a small unit of rescued survivors as they fight the still mysterious Espheni invaders. Players will utilize hundreds of different skills and strategies as they attempt to push back the aliens and recruit members for the 2nd Mass, one of the last remaining para-military organizations left in the United States.
"Our goal for Falling Skies is to recreate the humanistic elements from the television series so that players can grow with the characters as they play through intuitively designed strategies," said Matt Scott, President of Little Orbit said in the release. "We want to bring that same character driven storyline derived from the series to the game all while making it easy to navigate for every player."

Now, I am not one to gush over movie or tv tie-ins, but man, I love me some Falling Skies. I know I shouldn't, I know it is, at times, a poorly written, poorly conceived show, but I also know that when it works, it can really work. The show just needs to get out of its own way every now and again. Falling Skies stars Noah Wyle and Will Patten as the leaders of the 2nd Mass convoy, a ragtag group of survivors that have to deal with not one but two alien races, one friendly, one hostile; other humans, a weird alien baby, regular family drama (one of Wyle's sons was kidnapped and "harnessed" by the Espheni, the bad aliens) and a whole host of other issues while trying to keep humanity alive. And it has Doug Jones as a badass alien helping the humans. Doug Jones!
Little Orbit says that in the game, players will "be immersed into the unique story line with all their favorite heroes from the show." Which hopefully means that they have gotten some of the voice talent from the show to appear in the game.
Falling Skies the game will reach last generation's consoles, as well as the PSN, Steam and Xbox Live, this autumn. The fourth season of Falling Skies the show debuts on June 22. And you should watch. You really should.
