Apple has announced its new OS X 10.10 at the WWDC keynote as expected, officially titled Yosemite.

The focus with Yosemite is on clarity and ease-of-use, including a transparent task bar and redesigned typography. The icons appear flatter and cleaner, and iTunes has even shifted it's logo to a red color. Apple is striving for Yosemite to be the most usable OS they've produced, and showed off a new version of Spotlight and a notification center.

The interface does look cleaner with large, clear text--consistent through what Apple has shown so far. Spotlight and iCloud have both been refined to take advantage of--and fit in better with--the newly designed Yosemite. Suggestions in Spotlight make searches easier than before, which is a major factor Apple is stressing with its new software.

With offline and online search options, Spotlight may replace the need for normal web browsing if implemented well due to its built-in nature, streamlined into the OS. iCloud makes sending messages easier--encrypting large files so people can receieve them on OS X or another operating system--and syncing files across your platforms. A darker new look highlights the redesign, present across the different apps and features.

Hand Off mode connects your smartphone to your Mac computer, allowing you to answer calls or continue SMS messages from one device to the other.
