With Maleficent opening today, Disney took the opportunity to announce that in addition to her silver screen appearance, the villainous and self-described "Mistress of All Evil" will be scaled down for another appearance. She will be coming to Disney Infinity 2.0 alongside Brave's Merida.
Disney Infinity 2.0 Is Now Official, and Marvel Heroes Are In Tow
True to their characters, each Disney lady will be use abilities that they've demonstrated in their movies. Merida takes to using her sword and bow, but with improved gear that's able to fire freeze arrows, and a rapid fire ability. Maleficent on the other hand lays off the fisticuffs, and sticks to her magical talents. Like in Sleeping Beauty, she can summon thorns from the ground to entwine enemies, and call on ravens to do her bidding. She can also fire off projectiles.
Merida obviously featured in the Brave based video game as well as Temple Run: Brave, but Maleficent has long been a standing ficture in games, most notably as a prominent villain in the Disney and Square Enix team up series, Kingdom Hearts. She's appeared in almost every one of the games to date, but it's unknown if she'll feature in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III.
Disney Infinity to Use the Force, Star Wars Content Discovered
Set for 2.0, players will unfortunately have to wait for the game's release this fall before they'll be able to take Merida and Maleficent out for a spin. They'll be joining other newcomers Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, and Hawkeye of Marvel's The Avengers when the game does launch. Other Marvel familiars like Nick Fury, Loki, Spider-Man, and Green Goblin are also set to appear, as will a few of the "Guardians of the Galaxy."

Disney Infinity 2.0 is set to launch this fall on a multitude of platforms, including PS3 and PS4, Wii U, Windows PC, iOS, and Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
