There's a nice teaser out for Gearbox's Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel featuring villain Handsome Jack doing his own version of the "Ozymandias" sonnet, hinting at the game's story documenting the future dictator's rise to power, but switches the poem's traditional ending for one more to his own liking.
Various Skills Revealed for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel's Athena and Her Spinning Shield of Doom
Breaking Bad fans will remember the lines as a teaser to the series finale, but instead of gravel voiced Bryan Cranston reading a sonnet penned by English poet Percey Shelley, Borderlands fans get Dameon Clarke doing a Handsome Jack re-write over long panning shots of Elpis' barren lunar wasteland. No doubt the next work Gearbox will have is Vault Hunter Brick's "Shall I Compare Thee to a Skag's Butthole?"
It's certainly an entertaining trailer, but doesn't quite give you the chills like Cranston did as the maniacal meth dealer. What's more, the footage also helps narrow down the game's setting a tad. As the trailer comes to a close, we can see Handsome Jack's mask laying on the ground, showing us that the game is set sometime after his accident.
What We Know About Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel's Playable Characters
You can watch the trailer below if you like, but it's more of an auditory treat than a visual one.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will tell the story of the rise of Handsome Jack from a simple programmer looking after a satellite to the brutal CEO of Hyperion, and Pandora's preening dictator. Instead of Vault Hunters, players choose from a number of Jack's lieutenants, all of whom have appeared in a variety of Borderlands' collected adventures: Willhelm the Enforcer, Athena the Gladiator, Claptrap the Fragtrap, and Nisha the Lawbringer.
The game is set to release this Fall for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC. Expect more information at this year's E3.
