Are you feeling a little bummed now that you've seen X-Men: Days of Future Past and you'll never be able to experience the story again for the first time? Well, chances are if you were at the movies all weekend (I mean, someone had to see the new Adam Sandler movie) you might've missed that developer Glitchsoft has released Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past on the Apple store.
X-Men: Apocalypse Is Going to Be Biblical In Scope
The sidescroller beat em up follows the classic comic book by Chris Claremont and John Byrne in which the X-Men have to travel into the past to change history by preventing the rise of the Sentinels. It's such a compelling storyline that it's been adapted twice, once in the 90s and obviously now, and both have been called some of the high watermarks of their respective series. Glitchsoft intends to keep that streak alive.
In the game, you can select between five mutants, Wolverine (obviously), Kitty Pryde (who really, really should go by Shadowcat), Colossus, Cyclops and the Scarlet Witch, who you'll be able to see in the upcoming Avengers movie. You'll be sent along two separate timelines, the future and the past (and all the days therein) and be brought to such iconic locations as the Savage Lands and Asteroid M, in addition to the boring stuff like New York City and Washington, DC.
X-Men: Days of Future Past Review Roundup
The game is currently set at $2.99 on the App store and will take up about five hours of your time. Which, to me, is bordering on the cost/benefit line. However, there are no in-app purchases. You get every character, every costume with no need to buy any additional content. This includes all future content and characters, such as Storm, Magneto and Polaris. Buy it once and you never have to buy any of it ever again.
So, in-between arguing with your buddies on-line about how they're "obviously going to screw Apocalypse up somehow", why not hunker down and relive the adventure? It's just a tap of an app away.
