Duncan Jones, director of the upcoming Warcraft movie, has announced via twitter that principal photography on the film has wrapped.

"Final day on Warcraft now officially... wrapped!! Off to bed for 3 hours before a meeting in the AM. Goodnight/good morning twitter!" Jones tweeted on May 23rd. Three hours of sleep, though? That sounds excessive. He must be treating himself for a job well done.
The film stars Vikings actor Travis Fimmell, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper and Clancy Brown, lending his substantial gravitas to some wise, but angry, character. No specific details on the plot have been announced, simply that the film will take place during the events of the real time strategy games set in the world of Azeroth, Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and the still kind of great Warcraft II: The Tides of Darkness. The movie will follow Lothar, the powerful guardian Medivh and the wizard Khadgar as the events that course through the stories in all the Warcraft games is told.
Jones made one of the most brilliant sci-fi movies of the last decade, 2009's Moon starring Sam Rockwell and the cunningly great Source Code with Jake Gyllenhaal. He's also David Bowie's son, so put aside any notion that he's not the right guy for the job. Remember the last genre director who got ahold of a fantasy epic?

We're still months, if not years, away from seeing the first trailer. A movie the scale of Warcraft will have thousands of special effects in nearly every shot. I stopped playing World of Warcraft a while ago, but I'll be damned if I'm not excited for a return trip back to Azeroth, without having to bring 9 of my closest friends.
I mean, I'll still bring them, it'll just be nice to not have to take all the hits for once.
