2K Games has announced that multiplayer monster-hunting title Evolve will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 21.
Check Out The Interactive Evolve Trailer
The game pits a cooperative team of hunters with different skills and abilities against a huge, player-controlled monster. It's each side's job to destroy the other in hostile environments, leading to a different experience each match. The title is being developed by Turtle Rock, the studio behind Left 4 Dead.
Up to four players team up on the hunter side to take down the monster, which is obviously stronger and more powerful than any individual hunter. There are multiple hunter classes, meaning everyone has a certain role to play that impacts the overall team. Not fulfilling the role of your class, or pulling your weight in some way, will most likely lead to failure for the hunters.

There's a pre-order incentive from 2K, of course, in the form of the Monster Expansion Pack. It includes a new "Savage Goliath" skin for one of the monsters, as well as a new yet-to-be-revealed monster. The new playable creature will be released after the title ships this fall.
Though I have not played the game myself, most hands-on reports have seemed positive, saying that the game offers varied and intense experiences. It might not be the new Left 4 Dead that fans have wanted, but could be something great that's entirely different--and there's no problem with that. Keep checking back for more details and footage as Evolve's release date gets closer.
