That's essentially what this video from It's Okay To Be Smart tells you, but dives into some of the more technological and scientific aspects of the show regardless, seeking some explanations.
The video examines at the mysterious ebb and flow of seasons in Game of Thrones, looking to the moon's orbit for answers. There are clearly scientific communities in Westeros given some of what we've seen in the show, but none seem to have an explanation for the unpredictably long winters and short summers. Students from Johns Hopkins University even researched an explanation, which is described in the video.

Of course, it's perfectly easy to enjoy Game of Thrones and its parent book series, A Song of Ice and Fire without answering these questions, but it can be fun if you're into these sort of topics. Perhaps they'll bring up points you hadn't considered (admittedly the case for me), leaving you with more questions than when you began--but that's all part of the fun.
