'Titanfall' PC Multiplayer News: Capture The Flag And Pilot Hunter Game Modes Removed, More Getting Dropped?

Respawn Explains Why They Ditched CTF and Pilot Hunter Modes from Titanfall on PC

Late last week, developer Respawn inexplicably decided to remove two game modes from the PC version of Titanfall: the stalk happy Pilot Hunter, and ever classic multiplayer mode of Capture the Flag. The decision caused something of a controversy, and now the team has come forward to explain their actions.

Companion App for Titanfall Now Available on Windows Phone, iOS, and Android

To put it simply, the team made the decision because the modes weren't played very often, so the team removed them to decrease the waiting times for the few that did. A post over at the the official Titanfall site explained things a bit more thoroughly:

"We have an amazing and large PC audience with the vast majority of users predominantly playing Attrition and Hardpoints game modes. CTF and Pilot Hunter have not been widely used modes on the PC version. Players trying to access these modes had overlong wait times to find other users and it was making for a poor experience. We want to make sure that not only is there compelling content in the playlists we offer, but that the experience of joining a match works well."

Unpopular or not, no one likes it when options are taken away, hence the controversy. But Respawn's decision is at least understandable. Despite the fan disappointment, the team promised that they'll bring the modes back every now and again. The post continued:

"We're currently working on those new modes and updates and can't wait to share the details with you. We will still rotate Pilot Hunter and CTF in for future playlists as well as adding new riffs on game types that Respawn is currently working on. Our goal is to have a wide variety of playlists that are popular and changing. That said, we will not remove modes from Private Matches, so there will always be the option to select them for competitive and personal play."

But if one play mode can be abandoned, then that means nothing is safe. The post also noted that the team is "tracking what playlists players are choosing, and we're going to continue to look at unpopular playlists and add new ones on both platforms." But more on that later...
