Feast your eyes on this- IDW Games has just announced a multi-game deal with Chew creators John Layman and Rob Guillory to create a new line of tabletop games based on their critically loved comic. They're kicking things off with a card game and have big plans for the future.
X-Files Big Box Board Game Announced From Arkham Horror Designer Kevin Wilson
For the uninitiated, Chew is a pretty terrific comic that revolves around a FDA agent who is able to receive psychic impressions by eating objects. He was originally a cop but he was fired after he eats human flesh in order to solve a murder mystery. Fortunately the FDA has no such qualms! It's darkly funny and has been running for the past five years with no sign of slowing down. It's not the most obvious property to translate to games but it sounds like they're going full force with it.
"I love working with IDW. I love the people there, and am always in awe of their commitment to quality," says Chew creator John Layman in a statement. "We're gonna do everything we can to make the CHEW game every bit as awesome as the rest of IDW's stuff. I'm excited and grateful for this opportunity, and Rob [Guillory] and I are going to be deeply involved in this thing-- every step of the way!"

While they're kicking things off with a card game there are plans in the works for board and dice games as well, with each being a stand-alone experience. IDW is promising to bring top game design talent to each game in the series and keep Layman and Guillory involved on the creative side to make sure it lives up to its namesake.
"IDW has always loved working with John Layman and Rob Guillory," says IDW's Director of Business Development Jerry Bennington statemtent. "CHEW has grown into an amazing project, and we're excited to bring it to the fans in a brand-new way. We're looking forward to putting Tony Chu in all kinds of bad positions, and letting fans step in to save the day."
No word on if edible chits will be included when it hits early 2015. Much more on this and the rest of IDW's exciting lineup as we hear it!
