Korean developer Blueside's Kingdom Under Fire II is nearly upon us, the third-person action RPG series now turned into an MMO RTS game, a mix of genres never before attempted. Last month the game offered a closed beta but now an open one is about to begin, allowing any interested gamers to download and play it ahead of release.
Bound By Flame Offers Fun Action, Light Roleplaying, No Life Of Its Own [REVIEW]
Blueside's usually humorously mistranslated press release came with the news. "The Grand moment of Kingdom Under Fire II full launch has finally reveal itself! The time for waiting is near its end and this time with no data wipes. Next Thursday is the day you want to look forward to. Until then, download your clients and check patches. It's time to put on your War paint!"
The game will offer both single player and online multiplayer modes and pick up the story from Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom for the Xbox 360. It's the first RTS game in the Kingdom Under Fire universe since 2005's Heroes, so anticipation is high.
This game will feature three factions, as the old Human Alliance and Dark Legion have been joined by The Exiles, which are small in number but are masters in melee combat, somewhat like the Protoss in Stacraft.
The open beta for Kingdom Under Fire 2 will launch on May 22. To download the game check out their official site. As you can see in the video below, the game offers absolutely massive battles involving thousands of combatants. It's on the scale of a title like Dynasty Warriors but with much more strategy involved and it looks pretty amazing in action.
