We've been told the next Mass Effect title will not focus on Commander Shepard or the same story arc we've seen in the past, leading to a lot of speculation about what area of the series' universe it will focus on. A rumored title has emerged for the title in development, which will supposedly be called Mass Effect: Contact.
Mass Effect 4 Currently 'In The Middle' Of Developement
The game has been referred to as Mass Effect 4 so far, but I have personally found that unlikely as the developers will probably want to stray from the established trilogy.
Several tweets have given hints regarding the name, as Twitter once again proves to be a good source of inside information.

Load the Game is reporting a series of tweets that hint at the supposed name Contact, starting from an "infamous insider" who goes by the name shinobi602.
"Mass Effect: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ is right by the way," he tweeted, which gave way to many other users trying to fill in the blanks.
Another supposed insider named Ahsan Rasheed supplied some of the letters and removed others by saying, "Let's play Wheel of Fortune! I'll make it easier for you RSTLNE: _ _ N T_ _ T".
Whether or not their information can be trusted is one thing, but they do have a reputation for such knowledge. 'Contact' is a word that definitely fits within the boundaries of the letter count and lines up with Rasheed's hints, in addition to holding a meaning within the Mass Effect universe.
In the series' lore, humanity's first meeting with aliens broke out into warfare with the Turians, becoming known as the First Contact War. These events are referenced fairly heavily in the original trilogy, and also happen to predate Commander Shepard, meaning it would line up with the idea that the new story will focus on something other than the original trilogy's protagonist.
Bioware Montreal Studio Director Yanick Roy has attempted to calm the conjecture, tweeting, "With respect to name speculations: the next Mass Effect doesn't have a name yet, just a working title that we have used since day 1 of the project." Contact could very well be that name, but there is no official title right now according to the developers.
