Kentucky Route Zero's Act III is Finally Available After a Year-Long Wait

The third act of Kentucky Route Zero has unexpectedly dropped today, available now through the Humble store and Steam.

If you already purchased the Kentucky Route Zero season pass, you should now have access to the new act in your account. The individual acts are not sold separately, meaning the only way to play is through the season pass.

Luckily for those who haven't purchased it yet, Steam is currently offering a discount on the title. The pass (which includes all future episodes upon their eventual released) is normally $24.99, but is available right now for $18.74, which is 25 percent off. That deal runs until May 13, so if you've been interested in Kentucky Route Zero, you have about a week to go for it at a reduced price.

The indie point and click adventure title from Cardboard Computer gained critical acclaim when it released early in 2013. It was funded on Kickstarter in 2011, with a goal of just $6,500.

Act II was made available in May of 2013, which means the game has not seen a release in just under a full year--an incredibly long wait for that sort of format. The idea behind episodic releases is that players consistently get smaller, bite-sized chunks over time to keep them satisfied and enjoying that product, rather than one big release followed by a long wait.

Putting a year between acts in Kentucky Route Zero nearly ruins the purpose of the format, but I imagine fans will be happy that Act III is now available just the same.
