Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was supposed to be revealed this Sunday but a leak caused them to release the announcement trailer in the middle of last night. It looks pretty remarkable and suprised everyone by 1) Taking place in the future and 2) Starring Kevin Spacey as some sort of paramilitary corporation head.
While it has a release date posted (November 4) and the footage said it was taken from the Xbox One (no doubt because of the series' long-standing partnership with Mircrosoft- it's why Xbox players get DLC packs a month in advance of PlayStation and PC), there were were no details on what other consoles would be getting it.
Well, Activision would be silly not to release it for every single system out there and that's what they did.... with one exception.
There are currently listings on Amazon for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC. No Wii U to be found.
That's just one retailer's listing, of course, and the last installment, Call of Duty: Ghosts, was released for the Wii U. However, according to sales figures revealed last December, only 0.33% of the sales of Ghosts went to the Wii U version. Yikes. That certainly could be enough reason to drop the development- if no one's playing it on the system, choosing instead to play instead with friends on Xbox and PlayStation, then why make it?
We've reached out to Activision for comment and will update when we receive an official response on this matter.
