I know that Dreamcast wasn't the biggest or bestest console to have come out of Japan in the last few years. If anything, it wound up as the death rattle that would relegate Sony as a third-party developer for consoles from rivals Nintendo, Sony, and eventually Microsoft. But surely, some of you out there somewhere found enjoyment from the platform exclusive RPG Skies of Arcadia?
The game's release managed to sneak in just before Sega discontinued production of the platform, and it's considered to have been one of the Dreamcast's best games. Because of that legacy, First 4 Figures has just announced the availability of a new figurine comemorating the game's central hero, Vyse of the Blue Rogues.
Non-Skies fans may remember Vyse's more recent appearance in Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, and ever since, fans were hoping for another manifestation, y'know, game-wise, but it looks like this figure is about as close as they're gonna get.
From the foot of the base to the tip of the pirates flag, the entire statue measures an impressive 17" tall (11" tall on his own) and with his trademark pose atop a based inspired his his father's ship, The Albatross. All based on a sculpt designed by Salvador Felix. Vyse also sports a mixed media approach with his Blue Rogues flag made out of a durable fabric.
Skies fans will have their pick of two editions, both limited. The first is your bare bones basic. Only 1000 were made, and can be yours for $200. The exclusive edition includes an additional switch-out arm piece holding the Pirate's Cutlass weapon, and comes in at $20 more than the basic. There's only 400 and change of this model.
