This year is starting off with a blast from the past as Atari just revealed its own handheld console, the Gamestation Go, with a new trailer.
The new handheld console was officially revealed ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025. The footage makes a loud statement at the start of the year when Atari fully displayed Gamestation Go in all its glory.
Atari Gamestation Go
The trailer for the Gamestation Go gave fans their first look at the handheld console's features, such as its triggers and four face buttons. It also has a selection of retro hardware, such as a keypad and a Trak-Ball.
All of these features combined mean that players will be able to play with all manner of retro classic titles from the olden days. Many people may have been surprised by Atari's sudden reveal of a handheld console.

However, many people already had an inkling of the device because this is not the first time that it has been talked about. The Gamestation Go had an earlier version that was called the Gamestation Portable, according to VG247.
The latter was available for testing during last year's CES event, and Atari also sent out 3D-printed models of the handheld console to select influencers. This was to help the company market the sort of package that it was working on at the time.
A Year for Handheld Consoles
The reveal of the Atari Gamestation Go marks the start of a potentially exciting year for the handheld console market. This is particularly true as Nintendo is rumored to be preparing to officially reveal the Switch 2, which could arrive as early as March 2025.
On top of the Atari Gamestation Go and Nintendo Switch 2, there are many other handheld consoles that are making a splash this year. These include MSI's Claws 8 AI+ as well as Lenovo's Legion Go 2, Forbes said.
The Gamestation Go is a joint effort project by Atar and My Arcade that was designed to support and play the massive list of arcade games from the former's library. These include many games that make use of the Trak-Ball, such as "Centipede" and "Missile Command."
The handheld console also has Intellivision support, and many fans are hoping that it will also get support for "Jaguar" games. While the latest trailer showed the features of the Gamestation Go, it did not specify which games would actually be playable on it and how they would look, according to The Gamer.
